DCRJ's MOVIE REVIEWS: IMAX UNDER THE SEA 3D

We saw 'UNDER THE SEA 3D' at the Imax theater in SM Mall of Asia yesterday, Sunday Sept. 6, 2009. A breathtaking array of sea creatures found in the Coral Triangle (Indonesian area) and the Great Barrier Reef (Australia). What's even more mesmerizing is the true-to-life visual wonder of an Imax 3D.

'UNDER THE SEA 3D' narrated by comedian/actor Jim Carrey who never loses his sense of humor, subtly found in some scenes, in this serious film. It's also an educational film which chronicles the dying of the coral reefs due to the increased in CO2 of global warming. The combination of colorful mosaic of sea creatures and corals and the destruction of their living habitats will give you an awareness that will strike you deep.

The theme song at the end is an upbeat and wonderful version of the Beatles' OCTOPUS'S GARDEN (Composed by Ringo Starr) sang by a Doris Day-like voice. Truly magical but only an hour long film.

Price at the Imax theater is P250 per person. Bring your whole family, you won't regret it and your family will thank you for it.

Bonus movie preview is James Cameron's much-awaited sci-fi film AVATAR. This film has amazing visuals and the CGI seems to integrate with the live actors. AVATAR is coming in Imax 3D this December 2009.

Here's a video I recorded from CNN on July 8, 2009, rain lashed the new Harry Potter premiere in London drenching the casts including the lovable Daniel Radcliffe.



You can notice at the photo below that Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe were soaking wet due to the rain during the premiere of the 6th HP movie in London


Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be shown in the Philippines on July 17, 2009 and will be seen in IMAX at the San Miguel Imax theater of SM Mall of Asia.

We recently saw 'Monsters vs. Aliens' in full 3D effect at the San Miguel-Coca Cola IMAX theater in SM Mall of Asia last Saturday March 28, 2009. Although the movie itself isn't quite the way I was expecting, the 3D effect is still the usual wow factor experience.

The San Miguel-Coca Cola IMAX Theater at the SM Mall of Asia is the first of its kind in the Philippines and lives up to its promise as having the ultimate 3D movie experience with its movie line-ups for the year 2009. Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is shot with IMAX cameras and will be shown in June. As for the month of July is Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince. Titanic director James Cameron will have his 'Avatar' movie premiere in December with its much ballyhooed new 3D technique.

We saw 'SEA MONSTERS 3D' yesterday at the San Miguel Coca-Cola IMAX Theatre at the SM Mall of Asia. It's a mind blowing experience, a prehistoric adventure set deep in the waters of pre-North American west continent 82 million years ago. Amazing what a virtual 3D environment done with computer graphics can truly entertain and at the same time educate. Prepare to be mesmerize in a spectacular array of prehistoric fishes as backdrop. The 3D visuals (via 3D glasses) will astound you, the prehistoric creatures live and breathe once again courtesy of the magical technology of computer animation.
