MANILA OCEAN PARK's New Attraction - 'SHARK ATTACK' swimming with Tiger Sharks - April 14, 2011

SERI LAND : New Attraction at MANILA OCEAN PARK

There is a new attraction at Manila Ocean Park and it's called Seri Land. I don't actually know who Seri is but the Seri figure displayed is a cute bear in pink robe and hat.

Seri Land has 5 attractions namely Kid's Paradise, 3D Theater, Trick Art, Mirror Maze and Bear Museum.

Sonic the Hedgehog stars in the 3D short film 'Night of the Werewolf' at the 3D theater. Kids will love the 3D short but I find it average and cartooney although the air-conditioner was at full blast making it conducive for relaxation.

Mirror Maze is a maze-like puzzle with multiple glass panes. Guests are required to wear white gloves not only to avoid finger printing the glass panes but serves as finding glass pane in front of you.

Trick Art is a photo session haven with art photos creating an illusion of depth and trickery which seemingly interacts with guests.

MARINE LIFE HABITAT, Newest Attraction at MANILA OCEAN PARK Soon-to-Open on September 2010

We visited the Manila Ocean Park for the umpteenth time located at the back of the Quirino Grandstand, Aug 29, 2010.

We have seen all of the attractions inside the park namely the Acquatica Musical Fountain, the Jellies Jelly Fishes, the Oceanarium, Fish Spa, the Glass Bottom ride etc.

What really caught my fancy is the soon-to-open Marine Life Habitat. I have googled it but alas there's not a single bit of info I could find even on the Manila Ocean Park website.

Based on the photo, it seems that it would comprise of live sea lions or seals similar to the ones seen at Ocean Park Hong Kong! now that could be exciting, no longer have to travel by plane just to see similar attraction.

DCRJ Visits ACQUATICA - New Attraction at MANILA OCEAN PARK - March 28, 2010

We visited the newest attraction at the Manila Ocean Park on a Palm Sunday March 28, 2010. Reports say that the attraction was recently launched on March 26, 2010 so lucky us.

Acquatica is a spectacular light and water show blended with pyrotechnical works and choreographed stage play. It tells a simple, inspiring story backed up by captivating music and dramatic multi-media effects of pyrotechnics, synchronized water jets that squirt water 20 to 40 meters high, and bursts of flame.

It is similar to Singapore's musical fountain show in Sentosa Island and IMHO, I can say that Acquatica is more innovative in terms of effects because the show incorporates fireworks and flames not seen in the musical fountain show in Sentosa !

It is located just in front of the entrance of the Manila Ocean Park. Prices is P300 on weekends, P250 on weekdays or you can avail of a discount price of P500 which includes two attraction - The Oceanarium and the Maiden of the Sea show in Acquatica. Show starts 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm daily. Best for family fun and entertainment this summer !

DCRJ visits 'JELLIES: DANCING SEA FAIRIES' - New Attraction at MANILA OCEAN PARK - Oct. 11, 2009

A new attraction at the Manila Ocean Park is now open. It's called JELLIES: DANCING SEA FAIRIES. An exhibition of assorted Jellyfishes synchronized with music and lighting effect giving a sense of seeing 'aliens' from a different world. The amazing Jellyfishes with its translucent gelatinous body reflects light giving an enchanting glow to their appearance.

I am delighted that these sea wonders which brought awe in Ocean Parks of the world are now here in the Philippines specifically at the Manila Ocean Park.

Manila Ocean Park is located behind the Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal Park, also near the historical Manila Hotel. Prices for the 'Jellies: Dancing Sea Fairies' attraction is P150 per person (Adult and Child).














I have seen the same Jellyfish attraction at the Ocean Park Hong Kong, it has the same concept, same design but different music played (at least, when I visited the place). The music played in Hong Kong, specifically at the Jellyfish columns, was fast-paced and upbeat synchronized with light colors. The music played in the Philippine counterpart is a slow orchestral music although giving a soothing effect while watching the Jellyfishes. Different strokes for different folks (or countries).

The SE Asia coffeeshop chairs and stools with marble tables, the Indonesian tok panjang bench and long wood tables and old Philippine Spanish café stools, all add to the ambience.

As a finishing touch, digest the meal with a calming and charming view of the Manila Bay for a reprieve to all that feasting.

DCRJ's 2nd Visit at the MANILA OCEAN PARK June 15, 2008 Father's Day

This is my second visit at the MANILA OCEAN PARK, Father's Day June 15, 2008. My first review of the MOP can be found at this link DCRJ's First MOP Review

What's new at the MOP since my first MOP visit last March 2, 2008 ? Four things
1. Fish Spa
2. Glass Bottom Boat Ride
3. Shark Theater
4. Air-conditioned Souvenir Shop


They have placed some tents in front of the entrance to keep visitors away from the hot blazing sun rays

Gone are the long queue lines but you still have to wait your turn as the process of entering the oceanarium is by numbers highlighted atop the ticket booth.

still the same fish tanks and variety of fishes as seen in my first visit. What's really new (at least for me) is the FISH SPA located at the second level of the building



For a fee of P 150 you get to be pampered by tiny little fishes for 20 minutes by nibbling their way those dead skin off your feet.





very ticklish at first but you'll soon appreciate those bulgy eyed fishes' effort in giving you a soothing relaxing feel, just don't wiggle your feet they get frighten easily.

Next stop, the Glass Bottom Boat Ride



Here you get to wear a life vest jacket for safety



For a fee of P 150 you get to ride the glass bottom boat and see a whole new perspective of the fish tunnel below

What's unique about MOP is the Fish Spa and Glass Bottom Boat Ride which you can't find in other ocean parks mentioned above, criticisms of the park's stiff prices, well you could say that but comparing those prices with ocean parks abroad, the MOP prices (entrance and tshirts) are still relatively dirt cheap!
