Team Mayweather demanded on Olympic style blood testings just 2 days before the fight and Manny Pacquiao doesn't agree with these demands. Manny believes it will only weaken him. Is this another bluff by Mayweather Jr. so that he won't fight Manny afterall?

DCRJ's Movie Reviews: JAMES CAMERON's AVATAR

I am sure you have read other movie reviews of this magnificent film so I won't go over that again. All I want to say is get out of your house, work or whatever you are doing and go to your nearest 3D digital theater or Imax, see the film in all its heavenly detail. James Cameron has done it again, he's King of the World for the second time (his first was Titanic, remember?).

If you won't see James Cameron's AVATAR at a 3D Digital Cinema or IMAX theater then you'll be missing the movie event of 2009 ! AVATAR is meant to be seen in theaters. We saw AVATAR Dec. 17, 2009 Thursday at Cinema 3 Digital Cinema, SM Mall of Asia and it was a magical experience. I still got tickets at IMAX on Dec. 20 Sunday, viewing it for the 2nd time is worth it. I see you !

Forget about those bootlegged DVD copies of AVATAR from your favorite pirates in Quiapo, AVATAR is an event. Avatar is one of the reasons why we go to the movies.

Just some of my thoughts on the movie: The Mechwarrior in Avatar reminded of other Mechwarriors in moviedom, to name a few...the Mechwarrior Warmonger from IRONMAN, the Mechwarrior controlled by Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) in James Cameron's ALIENS and the Mechwarrior of the Prawns in DISTRICT 9.

Listen to the movie theme song (I See You) of AVATAR...I swear I heard a couple of musical notes similar to 'My Heart Will Go On' (theme song of James Cameron's TITANIC). BTW, James Horner composed both theme songs.

You can hear the praise 'I see you' in Avatar which is obviously taken from the dialogue in TITANIC (Rose: "you have talent Jack, you see people", Jack Dawson: "I see you")

My Ratings: 5 out of 5 Biscuits !

DCRJ Visits ARK AVILON ZOO, FARM RANCH & TIENDESITAS - Dec. 13, 2009

It's my first time to visit this amazing zoo called Ark Avilon Zoo. I got to know of the existence of this zoo from the photos posted by my 'friends' in the internet. Residing from Paranaque and Cavite, I am not familiar with the directions of any place in the north so I parked my car at SM Mall of Asia, we had lunch then hailed a taxi cab. Read the directions to the taxi driver from my notepad stored in my Nokia N95.


The Ark Avilon Zoo is designed to look like...an Ark from Noah's Ark




The white tiger's name is Claudia (written on a poster)


Feeding the carps at 30 pesos per cup of fish food, it's fun !


You have to supervise your children because some of the birds do bite !


Feeding the hamsters and rabbit with a carrot on a stick, P20 per carrot. Imagine the amount of veggies and fruits needed to feed all these creatures plus a number of tigers, bears, birds, sheeps, donkey, deers, crocs etc. P300 per head on entrance is acceptable to compensate for the maintenance of the place. What's really unique about Ark Avilon Zoo is that you get to interact with some of the animals, a far cry from the old and outdated Manila Zoo in Malate, Manila.


Farm Ranch is just besides Ark Avilon Zoo. It has kiddie rides and venues for your kid's parties. One particular ride is Space Quest which brings memories to the Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters in Hong Kong Disneyland.


Just across Farm Ranch is Tiendesitas which houses Antique shops and the Pet Village which consists of a number of pet shops and dog parlors for your pet dog. To cap the day we ate dinner at the food court section of Tiendesitas and we were treated with a cultural dance show from different ethnicities in the Philippines.

Ark Avilon Zoo, Farm Ranch and Tiendesitas are located at Ortigas Avenue, Pasig city near Eastwood city, Libis, Quezon City. cheers !

Here's the finale episode of the Filipino version of 'STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN' starring Dingdong Dante as Cholo and Rhian Ramos as Jodie which aired Dec. 11, 2009 Friday.



Although the TV series has its flaws, I was glued to watch this TV series daily for several weeks because of the fine performances of most of the casts. Shining moments came from Dingdong Dantes, Glaiza de Castro, TJ Trinidad, Rhian Ramos and Jean Garcia. The music and the theme song is still giving me a Last Song Syndrome.
