Remembering MICHAEL JACKSON (1958-2009) in the Philippines

I fondly remember going to the concert grounds near coastal road in Paranaque city circa November 1996 for the Michael Jackson's HIStory World Tour Concert with my brother and my brother's friend. We parked in the grassy area near coastal road and we have to walk about several blocks to reach the area.



I also remember Michael Jackson with then-mayor of Paranaque city Joey Marquez when they visited a tertiary Hospital in Paranaque, the Paranaque Community Hospital. Michael Jackson waved at the crowd outside of the hospital which is just in front of a private school, the St. Andrew's School.

Also, Michael Jackson stayed at the historic Manila Hotel during his short stay in Manila, on his way to the hotel with his entourage an ati-atihan dance group dressed in ati-atihan costume danced to the tune of Billie Jean while Michael Jackson amusingly clapped and danced with them in appreciation.

Michael Jackson influenced a lot of Filipino entertainers here in the Philippines with the likes of Gary V., Billy Crawford and Jojo Alejar. Michael Jackson will be forever remembered as the King of Pop just like his ex-Father-in-Law Elvis Presley as the King of Rock & Roll.

Remembering FARRAH FAWCETT (the Six Million Dollar Man's wife then) in the 70s in the PHILIPPINES

I fondly remember Farrah Fawcett in the 1970s here in the Philippines, in fact she was popularly known as Farrah Fawcett-Majors then when she was married to the Six Million Dollar Man, Lee Majors.

Posters of Farrah Fawcett with her iconic hair style were tremendously popular here in the Philippines, I got mine at Harrison Plaza. Charlie's Angels TV Show won't be as popular if it weren't for Farrah Fawcett. Charlie's Angels was a tremendous hit here in the Philippines alongside with Starsky and Hutch, Donnie and Marie and the Muppet Show which were all shown on the 'Where You Belong' Network GMA-7 (a pre-Kapuso days).

I also remember another iconic 70s film 'Saturday Night Fever' where Tony Manero, John Travolta's character in the film, had a Farrah Fawcett poster in his room.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Farrah Fawcett has died after a long battle with cancer, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

Farrah died at 9:28 AM on Thursday at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif.

She was 62.

"After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away," Farrah's longtime companion, Ryan O'Neal, said in a statement to Access. "Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."


The actress, best known for her role in the '70s TV show "Charlie's Angels" and her iconic hair, was in the hospital earlier this month and a source close to Farrah told Access Hollywood at the time that she was not doing well.

While her condition was deteriorating, those closest to Farrah wanted to take her home for her final days.

Her death comes just days after O'Neal revealed he had asked Farrah to be his wife.

"If she's feeling a little better, I've asked her to marry me again and she's agreed," Ryan said in a new interview with Barbara Walters for ABC's "20/20," set to air June 26.

"We will as soon as she can say, 'Yes.' Maybe she can nod her head. I promise you, we will."

However, a source has confirmed to Access that Ryan and Farrah did not get married prior to her death.

In addition, Access has learned Ryan and Farrah's son, Redmond O'Neal, did not get to see his mother a second time on a court-allowed visit from jail. The last time Redmond saw Farrah was during his first and only court-allowed visit on April 25.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's department told Access no requests had been made to transport Redmond to see his mother before she died.

Following her diagnosis with anal cancer in 2006, Farrah waged a very public battle against the disease, documenting her fight in "Farrah's Story," which aired in May on NBC and will re-air on June 26 at 8 PM.

After several rounds of chemotherapy treatments, Farrah announced that she was cancer-free, but in May 2007, the cancer had returned and she underwent further treatment in Germany.

The star was born on February 2, 1947, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Even at a young age, Farrah caught people's attention - she was given the title "Most Beautiful" in high school.

She became an icon for her role as Jill Munroe in "Charlie's Angels" in the mid-'70s, inspiring fans to imitate her feathered blonde hair. She rose to sex symbol status thanks in part to a now-legendary swimsuit poster that sold over 12 million copies.

Farrah left the popular show after a single season, going on to star in a number of films, television shows and made-for-TV movies such as 1984's "The Burning Bed," which earned her an Emmy nomination.

The actress made further headlines in 1995, when she posed for Playboy at age 48.

Farrah is survived by her father James, longtime partner Ryan O'Neal, their son, Redmond O'Neal, who has dealt with numerous legal issues over the last few years, including most recently, an arrest for allegedly trying to bring heroin into an LA-area jail facility on April 5.

MANNY PACQUIAO Should Be on the Cover of EA SPORTS FIGHT NIGHT ROUND 4 (2009)

Last year's cover of EA Sports Fight Night Round 3 (2008) is none other than Oscar 'the Golden Boy' De La Hoya. On December 2008 Oscar Dela Hoya was beatened to a pulp by the Filipino legend Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao. Not only was Oscar Dela Hoya defeated but was defeated convincingly with a TKO victory by the mighty Pacman.

News articles heralded Manny Pacquiao as the 'new Golden Boy' dethroning Oscar Dela Hoya. It gave me excitement by just thinking that Manny Pacquiao will soon grace the cover of the popular boxing video game called Fight Night by Electronic Arts in 2009.



Well, to my disappointment, Manny Pacquiao isn't chosen to be the cover of this year's Fight Night Round 4 (2009), instead EA Sports chose the legendary Muhammad Ali with Mike Tyson. Reasons that I could think of perhaps Manny Pacquiao haven't yet earned the honors to grace its cover but didn't Manny Pacquiao pulverized Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton in two rounds a month ago? Manny Pacquiao didn't just defeated Ricky Hatton, Manny totally outclassed The Hitman. If there should be a well-distinguished fighter in 2009 it might as well be Manny Pacquiao on the cover of EA Sports Fight Night Round 4. What do you think ?


...and all they could do is make an ugly rendering of the likeness of Manny, observe the photo above and you could well notice the roughly mean and tough imagery of the Pacman which is a far cry from the actual humble face of the Pacman. Well, you can't win 'em all.

The latest uploaded video of moymoypalaboy "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" has garnered a huge number of hits around the world in a span of just TWO days.

The whole world enjoys the duo while the bozos specially at ManilaTonight.Com currently have been suffering from Crab Mentality Syndrome.

What's really baffles the mind is that the so-called 'Pinoy upper class' or the so-called 'Pinoy intellects' of the moymoypalaboy haters condescend upon these Moymoy Palaboy boys as being 'skwa skwa'. This is what I meant by Crab Mentality...Pinoys look down on Pinoys while the rest of the world look up on these two Pinoys.

Moymoy Palaboy haters always argue that the antics of YouTube's Back Dorm Boys were 'stolen' by the Moymoy Palaboy duo. If that is the case then Moymoy Palaboy has refined the Back Dorm Boys' zany antics to near perfection.

As a matter of fact, the Moymoy Palaboy duo has already LEVELED UP not just by mere lipsynching but also have already released their very own album containing songs with their real voices. They already have a big TV network behind them, hordes of gorgeous Mexicans as well as Pinays as fans.

Yet still, haters I know from the ManilaTonight.Com still argue that the Moymoy duo are copycats of the Back Dorm Boys despite the already proven talent of the duo as seen and heard in their Uploaded DVD album.

Some haters were surprised that the duo can actually sing but most haters still kept their eyes and ears shut and insists on their OUTDATED argument that the duo are mere copycats of the Back Dorm Boys thus failing to see or discover the sheer talent that this Moymoy boys have in the later part of their career when it comes to their actual singing and comedy, heck they even have their own band for their promotional gigs.

I must say that Crab Mentality lingers in the subconscious minds of most Moymoy Palaboy haters specially those bozos at the ManilaTonight.Com, I am even lambasted personally just because I support the duo. For all they didn't know, I support not only the Moymoy duo but other Filipino celebrities as well because I like seeing Filipinos receiving successes in the international limelight and locally as well.
