DCRJ's MOVIE REVIEWS: SCHINDLER'S LIST (1993), CHLOE (2010), 30 DAYS OF NIGHT (2007), FREQUENCY (2000) & HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER (1974)

Revisited the film SCHINDLER'S LIST (1993), Steven Spielberg's masterpiece about Oskar Schindler who saved more than 1,100 Jews during the Holocaust. Schindler portrayed movingly by Liam Neeson. This is one of the three films we watched on a lazy Sunday afternoon which starred the enigmatic Liam Neeson...first was Chloe (2010) then Schindler's List (2010) then the A-Team (2010). Amazing how the pirates perfected their product from plain plastic casing to this handsome aluminum casing (see photo), best of all, it's cheap ! Schindler's List is, as always, a 5 out of 5 Biscuits for me.

We saw CHLOE (2010) on a weekend via a glorious pirated DVD from a muslim vendor in Uniwide Coastal Mall. The movie stars Amanda Seyfried in the title role with Julianne Moore and Liam Neeson. I was expecting that the film would lead to an intense climax with the likes of a 'Fatal Attraction' movie but the film is half suspense and half boring with a disappointing ending. Not recommended even with a steamy lesbian sex scene. My ratings: 1 out of 5 Biscuits !

We saw this movie on a Saturday night, July 10, 2010. It's called 30 DAYS OF NIGHT (2007). I bought the glorious pirated DVD from a muslim vendor inside Emilu's, Molino, Bacoor, Cavite. The film stars Josh Harnett. A fangfest of brutality and gore. How can you defeat a group of black-eyeballed vampires in an Alaskan town plunged into darkness for 30 days? Josh Harnett knows the answer and he will show you how in this thriller of a movie in bloody proportions. Just don't mind the soulless human characters hehehe. My ratings: 4 out of 5 Biscuits !

Revisited the film FREQUENCY (2000) Firefighter Frank Sullivan (Dennis Quaid) is in the year 1969 while he talks, in real-time, to his son John Sullivan (Jim Caviezel), a cop who is in the year 1999 via an old Ham radio. Sort of a Twilight Zone time travel episode blended with thrills when father and son from different time period unravels together the crime of a serial killer. Amusing and yet moving. Moved me to tears every time I see the father and son scene (see snapshot attached). One of the best Time Travel movies I've seen. My ratings: 5 out of 5 Biscuits !

Revisited a Clint Eastwood western classic HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER (1974) in glorious pirated DVD format from the muslims of Quiapo. Clint's first western film as director. The Man with No Name from Sergio Leone's spaghetti western films, is again a man with no name only to be known as The Stranger in High Plains Drifter. It's partly supernatural and vintage western with Clint literally having the town painted red (see snapshot photo). Best western of the 1970s as 'Pale Rider' to the 80s and 'Unforgiven' to the 90s. My rating: 5 out of 5 Biscuits ! I personally think that this film was the inspiration for the Lucas Arts western game called OUTLAWS.
