I prefer the authoritative style of Terrence Howard's Rhodey (Iron Man One) than Don Cheadle's lame and seemingly reluctant performance as Rhodey in Iron Man 2. Don Cheadle has this worried look on his face which doesn't blend with his alter ego War Machine unlike Terrence Howard's enthusiasm in the first film. Robert Downey reprises the role he made famous and manages to give the character Tony Stark a stark portrayal of a lonely man who likes his life on the edge amidst hi-tech gadgetry.
Scarlet Johanssen is a stunning knockout and Mickey 'The Wrestler' Rourke as Whiplash is too villainy/cartooney without a soul...why would he took off his head armor during the climactic battle scene? Jon Pavreau is the movie's director and Tony Stark's bodyguard Happy Hogan. Stan Lee made a cameo again in the film.
I was disappointed the movie wasn't in 3D even it was advertized as an IMAX attraction, it's in digital 2D without the glasses in all cinemas here in the Philippines. I am also wondering why the film was shown here in the Philipppines (April 30) a week earlier than in the U.S. release (May 7)
Overall the film is 4 out of 5 Biscuits for me. Great time to be a Marvel fan, I can't wait for THE AVENGERS coming soon in 2012 !
