MOYMOY PALABOY & ROADFILL at DCRJ's Clinic

The duo Moymoy Palaboy & Roadfill was here at my clinic awhile ago.
I was included in one of their video. I hope my lipsynching was justified with those camera angles, can't synchronize the lines with my lips...it was without rehearsal and had to take a moment to memorize a simple 3 or 4 lines...anyways it was fun to watch the duo doing their gig live!

KIDNAPPING & DEATH THREATS To MANNY PACQUIAO & His Family - Video January 29, 2009

The prize of being famous and super rich should be respect and admiration but in the case for Manny Pacquiao, it's kidnapping threats and, the worst of all, death threats. Here's a news report from 24 Oras which aired January 29, 2009

It's quite alarming and disheartening to know that there are Filipinos who thinks nothing but themselves and whose job is to rob the rich and the famous. Manny Pacquiao is our national treasure. He brings honor and respect to the Philippines yet unscrupulous groups out to gain financial means by kidnapping Manny or one of his family is the most foulest method of all. Shame on them.

Manny Pacquiao is known as a humble man and a generous one. He also achieves positive results because he works hard to achieve it. But when he demands more money from split revenues of a mega fight Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer doesn't like it. Richard Schaefer doesn't like what Manny Pacquiao does and that's beating all of his boys to a pulp by Manny Pacquiao. The 50-50 split purse for the Ricky Hatton fight was rejected by Manny and Schaefer doesn'tlike it. A 52-48 split purse was finally agreed in favor of Manny Pacquiao but Manny has hard feelings on Schaefer's harsh comments on him. Watch the video from 24 Oras which aired January 26, 2009

BREAKING NEWS: PACQUIAO ACCEPTS EXISTING OFFER TO FIGHT HATTON

Bacolod City -- After a long night and as the sun glimmers in the Philippines' eastern sky Friday, Pacquiao has finally gave the nod to his team to accept the existing offer from the Hatton camp to maybe finally seal the May 2 Pacquiao-Hatton superfight at MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Pacquiao and his team are currently in Manila.

Pacquiao friend and confidant Rex 'Wakee' Salud informed PhilBoxing about the good news. The final financial deal is a 12 million dollar guarantee for Pacquiao and 52-48 PPV share in Pacquiao's favor.

The negotiation has been derailed after Pacquiao demanded a 60-40 PPV sharing in his favor from a 50-50 sharing being stipulated in the original contract. The Hatton camp countered with a 52-48 sharing in Pacquiao's favor and gave Pacquiao a Wednesday deadline to sign the contract. The fight has been called off as of yesterday when Pacquiao refused to budge as both parties issued statements blaming each other for the failed negotiation.

Over 3 bottles of beer
Pacquiao, whose playful antics would create joy and difficulty in his inner circle and this time reverberated into the boxing world by playing hard to get in the negotiation table, told Salud, who does not drink, that he would accept the contract only if Salud will down three bottles of beer. Salud, who had been trying to convince Pacquiao for days to sign the contract, was forced to drink this time around in order for the deal to be consummated.

Salud also informed that Arum was elated to hear the news that Pacquiao finally accepts the deal and that Arum may even come to the Philippines to do the press conference.

The Pacquiao-Hatton superfight on May 2 in Las Vegas is the year's most anticipated fight and is expected to sell out gate and short circuit tickets and break PPV records.

********

Period love story "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" emerged as the front-runner for the Academy Awards here Thursday, after landing a whopping 13 nominations.

The critically acclaimed romance, starring Brad Pitt as a man who ages in reverse, edged out India-set, rags-to-riches drama "Slumdog Millionaire," which scored 10 nominations.

"Benjamin Button" picked up nominations in several high-profile categories including best picture and best director for David Fincher, while the film's leading man Pitt also earned a best actor nod.

The film's 13 nods was just one shy of the all-time record of 14 nominations held by 1997's "Titanic" and 1950's Bette Davis classic "All About Eve," which both went on to earn best picture.

Speaking in France, Pitt described the slew of nominations for "Benjamin Button" as "a great honor for the film."

"The Oscars are the highest honor. For the film to be seen this way is a really nice thing for us," Pitt said. "I'm especially happy for David Fincher who's been working nine days a week shaping this for five years."

But there was disappointment for Batman blockbuster "The Dark Knight," which failed to earn nominations in either the best picture or best director categories, two areas where the film had been tipped to score.

However the film did earn a poignant posthumous Oscar nomination for Australian actor Heath Ledger, one year to the day after the heart-throb died of an accidental overdose in New York.

Ledger picked up a best supporting actor nomination for his spell-binding performance as the Joker and is now the heavy favorite heading into the February 22 awards extravaganza at Hollywood's Kodak Theater.

Thursday's nominations have reignited the Oscars hopes of "Benjamin Button," which was all but ignored earlier this month at the Golden Globes when "Slumdog Millionaire" walked away with four honors.

On paper, Fincher's epic love story appears to be the film to beat. On 15 occasions in the past 20 years the movie with the most nominations has won the coveted best picture Oscar.

However Oscar-watcher Tom O'Neil of the Los Angeles Times' awards blog theenvelope.com, said he believed "Slumdog" remained the front-runner.

"'Benjamin Button's' 13 nomination is impressive. But Slumdog is the one that the Oscar voters are talking about. You're hearing of Oscar voters who are watching their DVD six or seven times," O'Neil told AFP.

"It's unusual that we see a contender like 'Slumdog' that voters talk about so warmly."

Other contenders in the best picture category are political drama "Frost/Nixon" and Gus Van Sant's biopic "Milk," starring Sean Penn as trailblazing gay politician Harvey Milk.

The surprise nominee which appeared to squeeze out "The Dark Knight" is Stephen Daldry's Nazi drama "The Reader," which earned five nominations.

In the acting categories, "Benjamin Button" star Pitt will be up against sentimental favorite Mickey Rourke, superb as a washed up prize-fighter in "The Wrestler," Penn for his role in "Milk" and Frank Langella, who plays disgraced former US President Richard Nixon in "Frost/Nixon." Richard Jenkins of "The Visitor" completes the line-up.

Pitt's domestic partner Angelina Jolie is meanwhile nominated in the best actress category for her performance in Clint Eastwood's "Changeling." Her rivals will be Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Melissa Leo.

Winslet, a double winner at the Golden Globes, surprisingly received her sixth nomination for "The Reader," when most pundits had expected her to be named for "Revolutionary Road." At 33, Winslet is the youngest performer ever to be nominated for six Academy Awards.

The directing categories mirrored the best picture race. Fincher earned a nod for "Benjamin Button," while Briton Danny Boyle was also nominated for "Slumdog Millionaire."

Ron Howard, a best director Oscar-winner for "A Beautiful Mind," was also nominated along with Van Sant for "Milk," and Stephen Daldry for "The Reader."

In the supporting acting categories, Ledger's rivals include Robert Downey Jr. for "Tropic Thunder," Josh Brolin "Milk," Philip Seymour Hoffman "Doubt" and Michael Shannon "Revolutionary Road."

BORAT & PUKE and the others in between - by YouTuber komikero aka Gerry Alanguilan (comedic genuis!)

Well, it's only now that I have discovered komikero's videos since he started uploading videos in 2007. I have only seen 3 of his uploaded videos so far out of 275 (holy puke!) and I had some uncontrollable laughter already. One can immediately realize that komikero has a good flair for comedies by viewing even with just one of his videos. For instance, take for example the english ( or is it Kazakhstan? ) words BORAT (movie) and PUKE, those two words when read in the tagalog language has some vulgarity into it, komikero has a funny way of putting those words...well, watch the two videos from komikero and you'll know my meaning.

BORAT is funny

Well, LOL to you too, DAMMIT!

MANNY PACQUIAO vs. RICKY HATTON is CANCELLED

Yup, that's what the news has reported today. The Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton dream bout fight is off. The proposal of a 60-40 split in favor of Manny Pacquiao was rejected by the Ricky Hatton camp while a suggested 50-50 revenue split isn't into the likings of Manny Pacquiao either. Let's face the facts, Manny Pacquiao brings more PPVs (pay per views) based on stats from Manny's previous fights while the PPVs that was brought in by Ricky Hatton ranks way below the top 5 fights in recent memory. Manny Pacquiao has beaten an elite fighter named Oscar De La Hoya who was the top crowd getter for the PPVs. By defeating De La Hoya, Manny is now in the ranks of the elite and it's only fair and square that Manny gets the higher revenue than Ricky Hatton. It's not about the money, it's about respect demmit.

Manny Pacquiao has other prospects for his next fight. Manny doesn't need any money. He has nothing to lose even without a Ricky Hatton fight in his agenda. And what about Ricky Hatton's next fight? Hatton-Mayweather II? we all know who won in the Hatton-Mayweather I. What Ricky Hatton really needs is a fight with Manny Pacquiao to claim the pound-4-pound status. It's high time they respect the Pinoys !
