Four Outstanding Honor Guards endured 9 hours with CORAZON AQUINO's Casket - Video Aug. 6, 2009

Wiggling their toes and clenching their fists, plus the cooling relief of the salty-sweet rain, helped them endure almost nine hours standing at attention on the slow-moving, flower-decked truck that bore the casket of former President Corazon Aquino.

But what really kept them on their feet, they said, was simply the pride of being that close to the beloved leader on her final journey. Theirs was a place of honor coveted by the hundreds of thousands of Filipinos who joined the historic 22-km funeral march on Wednesday.

Private First Class Antonio Cadiente, Airman 2nd Class Gener Laguindam, Petty Officer 3 Edgardo Rodriguez and Police Officer 1 Danilo Maalab Jr. Thursday shared with reporters how they endured—and savored—what were clearly the most memorable hours of their careers.
