But what really kept them on their feet, they said, was simply the pride of being that close to the beloved leader on her final journey. Theirs was a place of honor coveted by the hundreds of thousands of Filipinos who joined the historic 22-km funeral march on Wednesday.
Private First Class Antonio Cadiente, Airman 2nd Class Gener Laguindam, Petty Officer 3 Edgardo Rodriguez and Police Officer 1 Danilo Maalab Jr. Thursday shared with reporters how they endured—and savored—what were clearly the most memorable hours of their careers.
