'HANDOG NG PILIPINO SA MUNDO', A Nostalgic Song from 1986 and Becoming Popular Again after Corazon Aquino's Death

Here's a nostalgic song that became the theme song of the People Power EDSA I which was composed by Jim Paredes of the Apo Hiking Society. 'Handog Ng Pilipino Sa Mundo' is getting a lot of airwaves again after the death of the People Power icon and ex-president Corazon C. Aquino last Aug. 1, 2009.

'Handog Ng Pilipino Sa Mundo' has a similar mood and feel to 'We Are The World' by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie...well, it should be because 'We Are The World' was so popular in 1985 and 1986 and it's not surprising that the mood and feel was captured in the song 'Handog Ng Pilipino Sa Mundo'.

'We Are The World' was sang by various artists and was done right after the Grammy Awards in 1985 for the African famine relief. 'Handog Ng Pilipino Sa Mundo' (Tribute by Filipinos to the World) was released in April 1986 and sang by 15 various Filipino artists (ala 'We Are The World') when Corazon Aquino became the first Female president of the Philippines after toppling the dictatorial rule of strongman Ferdinand Marcos.

Here's a video of 'Handog Ng Pilipino Sa Mundo' I recorded from GMA-7 news announcing Corazon Aquino's death on Aug. 1, 2009
