I just finished watching HBO's THE PACIFIC (2010) TV Mini-Series in 10-Parts in 11 DVDs. It tells the story of WWII in certain parts of the Pacific with true-to-life soldiers EUGENE SLEDGE (played by Joseph Mazello, the little kid from 'Jurassic Park'), ROBERT LECKIE and 'MANILA JOHN' BASILONE. Joseph Mazello's moving performance captured the emotions of troubled soldiers coming home from war. The series is a tribute to Gunnery Sargeant John Basilone whose real-life exploits would put Fernando Poe, Jr.'s unrealistic war scenes in the movies to shame. I am glad I have watched this. My only wish is that they should have included the Philippines in the setting. The DVD version is uncut and R-Rated unlike the tamed HBO shown on cable TV last March 2010. My ratings : 5 out of 5 Biscuits ! One of the best mini-series I have seen.
