I saw 'American Idol' on Star World Cable TV last night and I enjoyed Carly Smithson's rendition of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' on the Andrew Llyod Webber choice-of-songs week. But David Cook consistently outperforms everybody, yes including David Archuleta IMHO, with Cook's rendition of 'Music of the Night', as Paula Abdul said of Cook 'a well-rounded performer'. My vote goes to David Cook all the way. Remember David Cook's rendition of 'Billie Jean' ? it was bold, it was original and it shows the 'idol' with the innovative style that is David Cook.
Sadly, Carly Smithson was axed hours ago. Judge Randy Jackson told host Ryan Seacrest: "It must be a bit of a popularity week in the vote."
Carly Smithson even dressed up in 1970s style in motiff with her rendition of Andrew Llyod Webber's 'Jesus Christ Superstar'. I remember the film adaptation of the hit Broadway show 'Jesus Christ Superstar' which stars Carl Anderson as Judas in the movie which was released in 1973. Carl (Anderson) and Carly (Smithson)..it almost rhymes !
here's the video of Carly Smithson singing 'Jesus Christ Superstar' which would make even Nora Aunor (Philippines' Superstar) proud !
Here's David Cook cooked up the best vocals with 'Music of the Night' from Andrew Lyod Webber's Phantom of the Opera.
