In light with the upcoming 4th Indiana Jones installment INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, here are some Indiana Jones trivias you probably didn't know about...until now!
1.) Did you know that in addition to Harrison Ford who played Indiana Jones, four other actors have played Indiana Jones to date ? They are River Phoenix in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' (age 16), Cory Carrier and Sean Patrick Flannery (TV's Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, aged 17 to 21), and George Hall (as the old Indy during the series’ framing sequences). Harrison Ford reprised the role for one episode of Young Indiana Jones set in the 1950s entitled 'Mystery of the Blues'.

This is the last few minutes of the Young Indiana Jones chronicles episode called "Mystery of the Blues" in which Harrison Ford came back to play the older Indiana Jones for the only time. It was filmed during him filming "The Fugitive" so he has a beard.
2.) Did you know the late River Phoenix (older brother of Joaquin Phoenix), who plays the young Indiana Jones during the opening moments of 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade', had previously played Harrison Ford’s son in The Mosquito Coast ?. Phoenix claimed that his portrayal of the character was based on Harrison Ford himself, and not on Ford’s own portrayal of Indiana Jones.

3.) Did you know that the young Indy sequence in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' reveals the origin of the character’s prominent chin scar as being the misuse of his whip ?. In reality Harrison Ford got the scar during a car crash when he was 20.
snapshot here shows the late RIVER PHOENIX playing a young Indiana Jones in the 3rd Indy film 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'
young Indy (River Phoenix) struck his whip to force back an attacking lion but instead slicing up his chin.....
...thus explaining how the adult Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) got his scar on his chin.
4.) Did you know that the revelation of the “Indiana” name being based on the boy Indy’s dog in 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' is another example of real life intruding upon the film ? During the 1970s, George Lucas had a dog called Indiana. This dog was also based on Chewbacca's furriness and huggie-bear quality.
